"Enhancing Quality of Internship Programs
Through Experience Sharing Among Sending and Hosting
Organizations in Europe"

01
From classrooms and local training labs to European round tables: Lexema Ltd has been one of the key players in QUALITY, an Erasmus+ project focused on improving the quality of traineeships between Italy, Malta, and Ireland.
The two-year initiative was a concrete, hands-on effort that produced a real picture of how internships actually work — and practical tools to make them better.
02
“We started with a simple question: what do students, tutors, and companies really need for a traineeship to be useful?” explains the Lexema Ltd team.
The answer came through a baseline study coordinated by the association, involving questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups with schools, training centers, companies, and tutors.
The research highlighted familiar challenges — such as unclear objectives or limited feedback — but also many good practices already in place.

03
Based on these findings, the project partners — Lexema Ltd (Malta), Pro.m.e.t.eu.s (Italy), and Work Experience Agency Ltd (Ireland) — developed a free manual including guidelines, templates, and checklists: from defining learning outcomes to supervision forms and mid-term feedback tools.
These simple and adaptable instruments were designed especially for small and medium-sized organizations.
Across Italy, Malta, and Ireland, the project also delivered masterclasses for tutors, teachers, and employers — highly practical sessions built around real examples and direct exchange.

“The added value,” says Lexema Ltd, “was seeing how the same concept can work differently across countries, and bringing back home improved solutions.”
The story of QUALITY does not end here. Lexema Ltd announced that it will keep the online tools open and updated, and will host annual webinars to collect feedback, case studies, and suggestions from professionals.
